FRANCESCO TARANTO
period instruments guitarist

 

Born in Rome, he has specialized in the execution of early XIX century repertory with period instruments and phylological practice together with Carlo Barone.

He has been an active concert player since 1980 both as a soloist in chamber music groups, and with full-scale Orchestras in Italy and USA where in 1991 he made his debut in New York at the Carnegie Recital Hall and American Institute of Guitar, performing, for the very first time, pieces by Gabriello Melia.

In the following year he was invited to the Julliard School in New York and State University at Stony Brook and once more to the Carnegie Recital Hall.

He has collaborated with the Editor Zanibon and at present he is collaborating with the Editor Rugginenti in Milan on the publication of the collection "I quaderni della chitarra".
